🍄 Psychoactives Biotech Startup Gets $30M Series A Financing For Novel Drug Discovery Engine – The biotech company led by expert researchers, clinicians and drug developers from Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Sensorium Therapeutics, has closed a $30 million Series A to advance its initial compound SENS-01 together with its Biodynamic Discovery Platform.

🏒 Billionaire Canadiens Minority Owner Reported Favorite to Buy Senators – Billionaire Michael Andlauer has reportedly emerged as the frontrunner to purchase the Senators after the team was placed on the market by the two daughters of late former team owner Eugene Melnyk – who bought the Senators for $92 million in 2003.

🤖 Leaders of Calm, 23andMe invest in AI health startup – Exer Labs raised $6.5 million and announced its new focus as a remote patient-monitoring platform for health care providers. The funding round garnered interest from high-profile entrepreneurs, including Anne Wojcicki, the co-founder and CEO of the genetic testing company 23andMe, and David Ko, the CEO of Calm.

🇸🇦 Newcastle United’s owners inject further UK£70.4m into club – The consortium, which took control at St James’ Park during October last year, is 80% funded by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).

🛋 Wellin5 raises – Wellin5, the one-stop solution to virtual counselling and therapist tools to significantly improve the effectiveness of therapy, closed a $2 million seed funding round.

🏞 BookOutdoors Launches with $4M Seed – The deal was led by GreatPoint Ventures, with participation from Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Seed fund, R-Squared Ventures, and former C-level executives from several of the largest travel and hospitality companies, such as Aman Bhutani, former president of Expedia (and now CEO of GoDaddy), and Brendan Bank, former CTO of Booking.com, among others.

🎾 Anheuser-Busch latest to buy into Major League Pickleball – The agreement grants Anheuser-Busch control over one of the league’s teams, with ownership over all decisions including its draft picks and sponsors, as well as a founding partnership with the wider US-based Pickleball league.

🇸🇬 Southeast Asia health tech platform Speedoc raises $28M – Speedoc, a health tech platform that brings hospital care to homes, has raised $28 million in pre-Series B funding. The round included Bertelsmann Investments, Shinhan Venture Investment and Mars Growth. Returning investor Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia and India, which led Speedoc’s $5 million Series A in 2020, also participated.

💵 Sports Sponsorship Analytics Platform Trajektory Raises $4 Million Seed – The round was led by investments from TechOperators, Bridge Ventures, gANGELS and Mudita Capital Partners. Teams across pro sports use Trajektory’s software to view automated analytics on the value of their sponsorship activations.

NFT gaming startup Eterlast exits stealth with £3.9m – Eterlast develops NFTs in association with sporting and media franchise partners. The digital assets can be collected by consumers and used as part of gaming experiences.

🤑 Amagi raises over $100m from General Atlantic – The investment brings Amagi’s valuation to $1.4 billion, representing an increase from the $1 billion valuation the company achieved in March 2022 with a $95 million investment from Accel, Norwest Venture Partners and Avataar Ventures.

🇧🇷 Brazil’s Libra soccer league chooses Mubadala Capital as new investor – Libra is in negotiations to sell 20% of its commercial rights to the ventures platform, owned by the Abu Dhabi-based Mubadala Investment Company (MIC), for 5 billion reais ($971 million).

🇿🇦 SubjectWell Secures $35 Million in Investment, Focuses Growth in South African Operations – SubjectWell, the largest engagement platform for matching patients with chronic health conditions to new care options in clinical trials, closed a R630 Million ($35 million) Series B funding round led by Asset Management Ventures.

🤝 Infront Acquires Pico Get Personal, an Artificial Intelligence-Powered Tool to Help Brands and Rightsholders Better Know Their Digital Fans – Pico is a graduate of the Stadia Ventures accelerator program and for a time made its product available for free at the onset of the Covid pandemic.

🧃 Something & Nothing sips up €2.8 million – Launched in 2017, the brand produces a range of beverages that focus on high-quality natural ingredients in all its products and is marketed as an alternative to high-sugar soft drinks or zero-sugar substitutes.

🇫🇮 Finnish startup gets investment to help babies and parents sleep better – Oulu-based baby tech startup Nucu has raised €950K in a seed round led by deep tech VC firm Voima Ventures. The startup’s first-gen multisensory baby pad soothes babies to sleep with womb-like feelscapes.

🎮 Esports company Wisdom Gaming raises nearly $14.9 million – Earlier this year, Wisdom opened an 18,000-square-foot esports venue and broadcast studio on the fourth floor of the Mall of America, in a space that previously housed chain restaurant and bar Dick’s Last Resort.
